SETGO at Marscon 2026: Dice, Demos, and a Packed Gaming Room
This past weekend, SETGO returned to Marscon in Virginia Beach, marking our second official year attending under the SETGO banner. While many members of our board have been attending Marscon for years, Tim’s first being back in 2005, it continues to be a highlight on our convention calendar.
Once again, we ran games and had a great time doing it. SETGO hosted a Marvel Crisis Protocol Hydra Tank Ultimate Encounter, alongside Star Wars Legion demos that welcomed both new players and veteran commanders to the table.
Too much gaming? Never!
We were also scheduled to run Unmatched, but the gaming room was completely full. The staff let us know they had long since stopped trying to manage table assignments. While that was disappointing, there are far worse problems to have than a packed gaming room. The turnout was a clear sign of an enthusiastic and engaged convention community.
Outside of demos, Ben, Hope, and Tim fit in a number of games of Star Wars Unlimited, enjoying a relaxed atmosphere, good drinks, and casual play between scheduled events.
Marscon also gave momentum to SETGO’s ongoing Star Wars Legion Tours of Duty campaign, with Casey and Gregor squaring off in a full match. The campaign will continue running through the end of March.

“Hope and Ben, two of our SETGO Board members, thoroughly thrashing the Hydra Tank commanded by the Red Skull in Marvel Crisis Protocol”

“Jose thoroughly thrashed Tim’s Master Chief in a “Slayer” match. Halo: Flashpoint is an excellent game if you haven’t had a chance to play it!”
Making it work!
Lack of space never truly stops gaming. Jose and Tim proved that by setting up a game of Halo Flashpoint in the hotel lobby, making the most of every available opportunity to play.
Overall, Marscon 2026 was a great experience. It was well run, energetic, and exhausting in exactly the way a convention should be. We are already identifying elements of their success that we plan to adopt, borrow, and happily space pirate for future SETGO events.
Cheers to Marscon.
